Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I volunteer?

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a top football event – plus, you’ll learn new skills and meet a lot of amazing people!

  • Who can apply?

If you’re 18 or over at least one month before the start of the event – and if you’re motivated and available on the relevant dates – we’d love to hear from you! Depending on the role you apply for, further criteria and availability requirements may apply.

  • How can I apply?

You can apply via the online application platform https://volunteer.uefa.com/login. Application periods will vary from event to event and are communicated on this webpage under each event’s specific section.

  • Are Volunteer opportunities open to all?

UEFA and the National Associations value diversity and strive to be inclusive in everything we do. We aim for everyone to have equal access to our organisation irrespective of any characteristics or personal traits. If you have any particular requirements with respect to the recruitment or interview process, please mention this in your application so that we can ensure adaptions are made when barriers identified.

  • How many different roles can I volunteer in?

Volunteers are usually assigned to one main role. You’ll be able to tell us which ones you prefer on your application. Depending on your extra availability, we may be able to assign you extra assignments.

  • Is accommodation provided for volunteers?

Unfortunately we don’t provide any accommodation for our volunteers, so we recommend that you have somewhere to stay near the venue. However, the local Volunteer Management Teams will do their best to offer advice on the options available to you.

  • Are travel expenses covered for volunteers?

Unfortunately we don’t cover travel costs for volunteers travelling from other cities. However, local public transport costs may be covered, depending on the agreement with the host city.

  • I don’t live in the host country of the event but want to volunteer, is this possible?

We expect most volunteers to live in the host country. However, we welcome applications from anyone. Please bear in mind that we won’t cover any visa costs. You’ll also need to make sure you’re eligible to volunteer in the host country.

  • What is UEFA volunteering?

For many years, UEFA has involved volunteers to give the population the opportunity to experience from the inside how its events are organized and to be able to get involved in its operations.

  • Will meals be provided?

Yes, all volunteers will get free food and soft drinks while volunteering.

  • Will I receive a uniform for my mission?

Yes, you’ll get a branded uniform that you can keep! Exact uniform design and items may differ per event and per role.

  • Will I be insured in case of an accident while I’m volunteering?

Yes, every volunteer will be insured under the accident insurance policy of the local national football association.

  • Will I receive a training ahead of my mission?

All volunteers will receive training specific to their role. Depending on your role, your training may be online, in person or both.

  • How many days am I expected to be available to participate?

The minimum time commitment will vary depending on the role you’re applying for. Make sure you provide accurate information about your availability on your application and during your interview. There will be a variety of roles that require different time commitments – which we hope will allow as many people as possible to take part.

  • Do I need to have experience in volunteering?

No. Anyone can apply to volunteer, even if it’s your first time. You’ll be given the chance to state in your application form why you would be suited to the role and detail any skills or experience you have.

  • What are the next steps once I have submitted my application?

If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to attend an interview, either onsite or online depending on the local recruitment process.

  • Will I get tickets to a match?

Unfortunately we don’t give tickets to volunteers. Time commitments vary depending on each role, so we can’t guarantee that you’ll get to see any of the match, either on TV or in the stadium.

  • The FAQs above don’t answer my question, what should I do?

Please contact the local Volunteer Management Team who will be able to provide you with more detailed and event-specific information. Contact details can be found on this website under each event’s specific section (upon opening of their respective applications).
