Volunteering at UEFA events in 2022: a quick recap
November 25, 20222022 was a very special year for volunteering at UEFA. With a historic Women’s EURO and 5 successfully delivered finals between May and August, our volunteering program was in full swing again!
The number of volunteers per final can be found below:
- UEFA Champions League final in Paris – 413
- UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Turin – 215
- UEFA Europa League final in Sevilla – 416
- UEFA Europa Conference League final in Tirana – 384
- UEFA Super Cup final in Helsinki – 360
That’s a total of 1,788 volunteers, over half of whom were aged between 18-25 years old, and with several participants over the age of 65!
Not only did our events manage to operate again to full capacity post pandemic, we also successfully delivered a brand-new final: The UEFA Europa Conference League final. As it took place in Tirana, Albania, it also was the first ever volunteering program conducted in the country. Another reinstated event was the 2022 Finalissima, which took the centre stage at Wembley Stadium, with European champions Italy facing South American champions Argentina.
2022 was also a historic landmark for women’s football. With record breaking attendance during the UEFA Women’s Champions League season, the competition was wrapped up with a successful final in Turin involving over 200 volunteers. This was closely followed up by the biggest UEFA Women’s EURO yet, where a team of more than 1,300 volunteers played a massive part in the delivery of the tournament across England.
We would personally like to thank all participants and look forward to writing history again in 2023!
